Norway railway Flam from cruise.

Hi ..we will be doing a P and O Norwegian Cruise in April...and really want to do the Flam train journey...has anyone done this trip and did you book it yourself or book the ship excursion?

I’ve done it both ways - the first time I didn’t realise how close to the railwY the ship docks, so booked an excursion and paid double the cost of the train (although we did get waffles and a coffee at the hotel at the top)
Second time, we hopped off the ship as soon as it docked, walked the 10 paces to the station and bought our own tickets

We done this trip independently in Sept. Book on line before you go through the railway line, very easy to do and it’s a I’ve minute walk from the ship.

It’s definiteky worth doing - the scenery and waterfall are spectacular - hoping to do it again in August all being well

I think that Flåm is the most stunning place I’ve ever visited - I’d always try to make sure a Norwegian cruise included it as a port
