Speeding offence question UPDATED

I too have just been caught, I’m going for the points and fine option, the course is still payable saving yourself £5 but wasting four hours of my life 😉 on my form it says I have to send of my license within 28 days of the letter...

Just read it again and at the bottom it says

“HMCTS will return your licence by Royal Mail standard 2nd class business post to the address above”

You definitely have to send your licence away I’m afraid 😟

oh dear. Conflicting comments on here which are all really helpful but not helping my blood pressure!

If, as it looks, I have to send my licence away that will basically kill our 3 weeks in New England as I am the only driver. Sitting here rather miserable as the moment and making a start in seeing what can be cancelled and what can be done with flights just in case its worse case scenario!

Hi here are a few numbers that are in the form, payment enquiries 01702 283860 and police enquiries 01603 276400 I was caught in Suffolk and remember reading your from same area so put two and two together and thought we may have been caught roughly same area lol

That's far too big a punishment for a bit of speeding. If you get option to do course nothing happens to licence. And you have a selection of dates to do it.

Hi, yes we live in Ipswich. Got caught the other Sunday in Earl Stonham. Went round a bend and there should a lady with the speed gun!

Rang the police enquiries number first thing this morning and the recorded message just said phone back later. Helpful!

Still waiting for the letter re fine etc.

With regards to the course I did a Driver Awareness Course 2 years ago so think that I am unable to do a Speed course as we were told that you can only do 1 in a 3 year period. I am assuming that both courses are linked which means I cannot do it. Obviously have to wait for the letter.
