Air Con not cooling down

Out here at the moment, have Dodge Journey from Avis with 13k miles on clock. The air con on th car is fine during the evenings but is rubbish during the day. Is it just because it�s so hot out here at the moment or, the air con on the Dodge is rubbish, or might it need servicing ?

Should definitely be cooling the car. Is cold air coming out of the vents ?

Just cool air. But in the evening (when the car as a whole is cooler), it blows cold air.

Sounds like it is struggling more than it should. My car takes a few minutes to get cool in the day but it does get there. I put it on fresh air for just a few minutes to clear out the stuffy air and then change it to recirculate to get it cooler. You are aren't leaving it on fresh air by any chance are you? That will never get as cool when it is over 85f.

If the air con button is lit up, you have the vents open and fan set pointing to your face and on maximum speed and it�s not very cold 10-15 minutes into your journey I would return the car to the nearest Avis to either swap it or be humiliated as someone points out you�ve done something wrong.

Sounds to me like it needs re gassing.

During the hotter parts of the day it's worth putting it on 'recirculate air' as that saves the system struggling to cool the hot air from outside and it just keeps cooling the air it has cooled already.

I would take it back and swap it. It should be able to keep the cabin cool and should feel cold out of the vents. As Tom said I expect it needs a regas.
