I’ve always left all my valuables in the safe at RPR and never had a problem. Just make sure it works properly before you leave the room and choose a code that isn’t simple.

We always leave iPads and passports in the safe (cash too if we're at the pool) and never had a problem.

They are as safe as any other room safe, in that it's safer than leaving them outside the room and it's safer than carrying it on your person (unless you are Mike Tyson then you probably are safe to walk around no one is going to try it with you).
However if it does go walkies (and given all staff will either know or have learnt the factory reset for the safe) you won't be covered past your cash limit on the travel insurance and the hotel accepts no liability. If you want safety the following are he ways to achieve it 1) only carry up to your insured limit (usually 500 or under) 2) leave it in the main hotel safe - it's a faff to get at it but the hotel is them liable for any loss 3) carry a small amount of cash and withdraw the rest as needed from a credit/debit card (ideally with no fees) - not a pre-pay card these have little extra protection than just having the cash (if you are of an older generation you could also use travellers cheques - but like a vinyl record no-one under 25 should even recognise what a TC looks like let alone have used one) |

We charged everything to our room and paid off with TCs. No need to have cash at all!
