Mobile 2022 Villa Holiday

Hey!
It’s been many years since we last went to Florida, pre kids etc!
We are now planning to go with my parents in early Feb 2022.

Previously we have always stayed in a hotel however thought with there being 6 or us (4adults and 2kids aged 8 and 5 when we go) that a Villa may be the best bet.

We have had a quote of £7000 for flights, Villa(Sandyridge in Davenport) and car hire for 2 weeks. As we haven’t been for so long I have no idea if this is a reasonable price or not?

Also, we are by no means set in staying in a Villa but would be great to hear what people who have been more recently and are in a similar position would recommend 😀

Many thanks in advance
Steve

Hi. That seems a lot for early February. We have always stayed in a villa as we like the space and our own pool. We have always done DIY, booking a Dibb villa as I like to know where I’m staying rather than just a community allocation. Then I usually book a BA fly drive as their car hire comes with fully inclusive insurance and you only have to pay a deposit. I have to go in school holidays as I work in a school and have never paid as much as that for 6 adults.
I haven’t looked at flight prices for next year so I might be totally off the mark and it may be a good price. I’m sure other February dibbers will be able to advise you on price.

Just an FYI, the 4 bed room villa in Sunset Lakes we go to is £650 per week in Feb.

You will definitely need the pool heated in February so make sure you factor this into the price too. If booking a villa through a TO, they will charge an extortionate price of around double what the owner would if booking direct. The cost direct will be in the region of £100-£150 per week depending on size of pool and whether it is gas or electric heating so this should give you some idea to compare against a TO quote.

Thanks so much. Sounds like we maybe better shopping around and booking things separately. Given we are looking at 2022 the flights aren’t available yet so we could book the Villa but wouldn’t know the exact details of flights until much nearer the time which would be my only concern in terms of ensuring they both link up.

Thanks for the heads up on the pool heating as well. I hadn’t considered that.

Most owners would hold a couple of days either side of your proposed dates if they have the availability to give you some flexibility when booking flights, just ask the owner about this when enquiring.

That’s an awful lot for Feb! We booked flights Heathrow to Miami (most don’t want to do this route but it’s cost effective for us and we enjoy the drive) for 2 adults and 2 teens with a car (BA fly drive) Have booked a night in Miami when we arrived, a 5 bed dibb villa for 8 nights and 2 nights at Disney’s Pop! Century resort, in total it’s come to £3200. Definitely shop around rather than just settle for a package.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like the price we have is quite expensive. I’ll look at the Dibb Villas tonight and take our chances that the flights will be reasonably priced when they become available.
Thanks again for all your help
