So for now I’m keeping hold of our flights (just in case!) but I honestly don’t think Japan would let us in, or they would require the 14 day self isolation, which obviously we can’t do.

To be honest though even If we could go I don’t think I could leave my family right now in the middle of all this, if something happened to one of them and I was a thousand miles away, I’d never forgive myself, it just doesn’t seem right.

Such a sad situation isn’t it.

Keep us updated and what you decide to do xx
I could have written your post almost word for word. Our hotels are cancelled and have lost no money. Also holding out for a refund from BA and not a voucher.

I don’t want to go now even if somehow we are allowed. Who wants to take the chance of being ill on the other side of the world.

I had thoughts of going in June for my 50th. I would have been so disappointed if I had booked and had to cancel.

Thoughts with those who’s plans have been scuppered

PLease see my post below from April 1st - edited slightly as borders now closed.

From April 3rd Japan closed their border completely to visitors who have been in 70 countries during the last 14 days - UK is included.

And yet I still can't claim on insurance, get money back from BA or Expedia. Requested the voucher from BA but heard nothing since.

Just hoping my flights are cancelled now and I can do a section 75 credit card claim.

We received an email this afternoon cancelling our domestic flight to Heathrow. We were flying out on 13th May. Will now phone for a full refund.

Does that mean you can claim a refund on the long haul sectors too, now that domestic leg is cancelled? If so that's really good news for you.

Never thought i'd be saying cancelled flights were good news!

Yes it will mean that a full refund can be claimed - it should be done by phone and BA have dropped the "within the 72 hour travel" requirement for calls too.

Our flights TO New York in months time have been cancelled - got to wait a week and then they cancel ones back - then get refund back to credit card.

Think might go to Tokyo Disney in September instead if world back to normal, with the money 🇯🇵🤞

Why do you have to wait for a week until they cancel the return? If the outbound leg has been cancelled you are entitled to a full refund and you don't need to wait to apply.
