thanks Sue, we have a number of friends and other people we know who have cruised and have offered their take on things. Unfortunately one elderly couple I was talking to disliked the Britannia and they said so did everyone else on the cruise were not keen either but they are seasoned cruisers and could compare it but as this is our first I think we will be fine. Their comments disappointed me at first but I've got the excitement back now.

We liked the Britannia there are lots of different things to do on her but have also heard others complain about her BUT she is different from the other P&O ships in the fleet and they are used to one style of ship and do not like change.

We have cruised on several of the P & O ships and we have 3 weeks booked on Britannia next August. My sister has sailed on her and had a great time and she has sailed enough to compare. You'll have a great time I'm sure

Thanks for that. So many negative comments on Cruise Critic forums as well as talking to these people I know. I'm sure you are right we will have a good time. So excited already. DH has bought a dinner suit and I've been looking through the sales for nice cocktail dresses although the only one I have so far bought was £3.99 from the charity shop. I desperately want a sparkly sequinned one. I think my best bet is to wait until after Christmas when the party dresses are in the January sales. The holiday will be what we make it, it will be the first time we have taken a proper holiday as a couple for over 25 years so will do us the world of good.
