Staying at Daytona Beach

My fiance and I have been offered the use of a friend's apartment in Daytona beach for two weeks in September.

We would like to visit some of the parks but were wondering how practical to would be to get to them?

Should we buy tickets ahead of time or just get tickets on the day?

Would we be better getting a hotel for a few nights near Orlando or just driving back to Daytona?

Can anyone suggest any other things we could do with our two weeks?

Thanks

Hi There, we just got back a few weeks ago and visited Daytona Beach for the day. We stayed on international Drive whilst in Florida and it was only apoprox 1 hour and 15 mins drive away so I'd say you'd be fine just driving over and back. We also visited Daytona Race Track and there's a fabulous outlet near the beach called Tanger, loads of outlet shops!

I would buy tickets before you go esp disney so you can book fast passes. You will be nearer Kennedy space centre too

It may only be an 1.15hrs away, but I4 can be a nightmare, and you can find somewhere on International Drive for $35 a night.

Thanks everyone. We'll definitely check out the Kennedy Space Centre.

We want to do the 4 Disney parks plus Universal and Island of Adventure and maybe a water park.

Can anyone recommend which tickets would be best to get?

It's a tricky one

Presuming one day will do you at each of the parks you are still talking nearly a week of commuting.

Its definitely doable as when we go to Daytona we commute from further out but I am not sure I would want to do it that often.

Its great if roads are okay and US roads are pretty good although last few times we have been to Daytona they weren't the best as were vary narrow due to road works, which might be finished?

You might want to think about spending say 4 nights in Orlando.

Sorry cant be any help with tickets

After checking ticket prices, we probably won't do all the parks as it's working out at £960 for both of us

I think we may just get a 2 day pass for Universal/IOA and then buy a one day ticket for magic kingdom on the day.

We stayed at Daytona beach right on the beach at flamingo Inn for christmas and new year... Did a lot of traveling to Orlando and back, it's not a problem if you don't mind driving amd leaving early to get to the parks in plenty time as the I4 can get pretty crazy at times and very slow... Took anything from 1hr to 1.5h to hit Orlando area. Went to discover Cove, aquatica. sea world for NYE, the boardwalk on Christmas day, also drove to busch gardens on boxing day. Staying at Daytona is handy for going up the Atlantic coast ie Jacksonville, St Augustine, cocoa beach and Cape canaveral, we also drove to savannah, GA for the day
Daytona can be nice as long as you avoid the dodgy areas! Beach generally OK. Recommend Joe's crab shack on the pier
😀

We've done it both ways stayed in Daytona beach and gone to Orlando for day trips and stayed it Orlando and gone to Daytona .

It's about a hour from the beach to international drive so a little longer to Disney .

Easily doable in a day .
