It's actually very straightforward to arrange - no worse than a Disney/Universal split really. On any US flight the fares allow a free stopover of up to 24 hours although if we can get much cheaper flights to Orlando then I'll drop the layover. So far all that is booked is AKL to fix the free dining , once I can book the flights everything will fal nto place so September/December time I expect.
Is it good - or sad - that I understood all that perfectly?

And ooh - Mission Control - that's on R.C.'s list, too.

There are SO many places - just in America - that we all want to see. But Poot and I always want to go back to Florida, too. I CAN'T WAIT for R.C. to retire! Then it will be summer road-trips every year!

We've often stretched the layovers to add a side trip as arriving into the US at lunchtime then time to see/do stuff in that city in the afternoon and evening as well as the next morning (the early wake up jetlag helps) before leaving for the final destination at lunchtime...works with Texas, New York,Washington/BWI, Chicago, Boston , Toronto and even Miami , if your final destinaton is further west the options are even greater.

Ah, I was so pleased to see another day and then so sad to see it is the final one. Thank you April for entertaining me, making me look up my patronus (even if I am no longer chief bada$$ &#128557 and giving me something to look forward to on my train home on a Friday. Today I'm on a longer train home from a very dull conference so it's even better.

I hope we'll get more trippies from you. I am always tempted to do one, but I suspect DH would not be happy with public photos. Particularly if I include tights, hot paints and hats 😂

Yes, that's a good idea - and we've done that with LA and SF on the way to Hawaii, and I've done short (!) European "city-breaks" with Poot as part of boomerangs/cheaper transatlantic trips. But I think the problem is that then you want to go back!

I've only been a few places in the world where I've thought, "OK, I've seen here - I don't need to come again."

But what if you only showed him from behind? Hmm...maybe not if he's in his hot pants, eh?

I said this to Jue (starstruck) earlier - while I will NOT miss the techie parts of this trippie (I know that unixgirl is laughing at me for thinking anything on the Dibb has "techie parts") - I will miss the conversations that followed the posts. I have one "real-life" friend who likes WDW - but only one, so it's been a real treat to get to know those of you who commented regularly.

Thanks so much for being willing to get stuck into all the silliness of this trippie, Zomax. Be assured that the next time we need an antibiotic - or a chainsaw - at our house, we'll request yours.

As today is lacking wand jokes... DH does look quite good in hotpants. But don't tell him I said so.

I saw the title and cried out 'NOT HOME'! Like 'Not the gumdrop buttons!'.

I love the patronus parade, I am particularly fond of LLamb's badger.

I am in awe of Helen's wand, how exciting.

St. Jude's looks quite pretty.

We have only been to Seaworld once, like Busch, it's not really for us given the number of thrill rides, but I'd actually consider returning if they celebrated their good work more. I don't think we've missed much not seeing Blue Horizons!

Haha my friend's father once told her Splash Mountain was 'like It's a Small World' and she won't ride anything scarier than the tea cups even years and years later. Poor Atlantis kids!

The Signature Seating seems a good idea, I didn't know the other parks were are savvy with the upcharges as Disney! I really don't envy cast members anywhere, they have a very difficult job. Last year at MNSSHP they had cast members stationed on the Cosmic Ray's exits, only tickets holders were allowed through them all, anyone without one was being escorted out another and (I presume) out the park. A guy without a wristband was arguing with a college program CM who wouldn't let him through, in the end he literally pushed past her and RAN off into Tomorrowland with family following him, the poor girl looked like she was going to cry.

Very sweet that Poot thought to ask you to stand. I also LOLed at 'as wild as a Quaker', if I knew anyone IRL who actually knew what a Quaker was I'd adopt that as a catchphrase.

That was possibly my gran helping herself to the condiments...

So sad about your pictures, I wonder if the card might turn up in a bag or pocket on a future trip.

I will never understand why security at MCO is such a mess, it's not as if they don't know all of these people will be coming!

That is AWFUL that the BA staff try and pinch kid's meals under the guise of being helpful. I find BA (and Virgin, to be fair) staff to be very insincere. Surely there's an option online to pre-order a kids meal if that's what you wanted?! Did you make sure to off her your leftover risotto?

Thank you April (and Poot) for your wonderful trip report. I am so sad it is over, but I have a plan to fight the blues - read a Boston instalment every Friday, then your food report. By the time I get around to the food trippie it will be so long since I read the original it will all seem new! You are a fab storyteller. Will a cruise report be forthcoming when the time comes?

I love Connie's Mummy's trip report too, I have always been sad that she's not around here anymore.

OK...my wonderful neighbour came 'round and helped me fix the commode. I am pretty good at home repairs - but spraying water makes me a little bit panicky. Our house was built right after the War, with whatever the builders could find at the time. It has...mercurial plumbing.

I love the patronus parade, too. I know I should have used "ghostly" animals - but the real-life ones were just too cute to pass up. And Helen deserves her one of a kind wand - her patronus is a rat, after all.

St. Jude's was nice - it looked a little bit like a Kingdom Hall from the outside - but it was the warmth of the people that made it so lovely. I lived in our parish here in England for SEVEN YEARS before someone ever said anything to me beyond "Hello" and "Peace be with you." The Southeast of England makes me sad, and more than sometimes.

And Poot's description of "Blue Horizons" didn't make you want to go and watch it on YouTube RIGHT NOW? What? I don't know what SeaWorld is going to do - many individual attractions are interesting and/or fun - but there is no big theme anymore. And I really think they'll need one if they're going to succeed.

I'm not sure if the Journey to Atlantis kids/your friend had it worse than Poot or not. I was always honest with him - which might have been harder!

"This looks scary!"

"Yes, it's a little bit scary. But you're tall enough to ride - let's go."

He was in tears the first time we rode Space Mountain - and there was a middle-aged black lady dispatching the rockets - she took one look and said, "Ooo - I LOVE to see tears of EXCITEMENT!"

But when we got off he wanted to ride again right away - maybe the Atlantis kids were headed off straight to Mako? No? You don't think so?

I'm still not sure what I think about the upcharge seating...I KNOW that Disney charges extra for lots of things, but I don't SEE that, so it doesn't bother me. But walking past the rows of empty "signature seats" at Clyde and Seamore...bothered me. And as you saw - for every different "level" of guest experience, there will be new challenges for staff.

"Why can HE sit there but I can't?"

"Well, he paid for those seats."

"I already paid $400 to bring my family here today - and now you tell me I have to pay more to sit in the shade?"

It's not a good situation...

It's funny the way we develop our senses of humour - R.C.'s very witty and sharp, but Poot has the (Celt's) storytelling gene. "As wild as a Quaker" came at the end of a long story about the Civil War and something called "Quaker Cannons".

The condiment woman! When we have lunch at the Sainsbury's cafeteria, we now have to ask for sachets of ketchup, vinegar, etc...because the bins of condiments they used to just leave out were raided one too many times! Maybe your grandmother needs a phone call from The Queen.

And I was sure the photo card would turn up by now - I have taken apart all the cases - but the Universal ones are only laminated paper - I suppose it just blew away. A reason to go back, obviously - but I'm guessing that Poot won't want to pose with Captain America at age 12. Sigh.

NO! I did not think to offer the stewardess my risotto - but I like the way your mind works. When I was a young woman, I worked in venture capital - and my boss (also a woman) was incredibly strict about how the ladies at our firm had to dress, our nails, hair - all of that. Because she was well aware of how it would affect the way people would see and treat us. And I think back on those lessons, even now - when I encounter people like that BA stewardess. In a MILLION YEARS she wouldn't have tried that with R.C.

Colette - your replies to this report have been such a joy to me. I just can't thank you enough. The Boston report was my first effort - and I fear it shows - but hopefully it will give you a smile or two. But don't bother with the food report - it's just the restaurant bits of the trippie - so it would all be old news to you.

Am I going to do a cruise report? I don't think so. This was SUCH a mountain of work - but I think I might do a "Highs, Lows and Funny Stories".

I hope this doesn't sound (too) creepy, but I wish you lived nearby - I'd love to treat you to a Sainsbury's sandwich!

Holy cannoli this is long...
