The cars start arriving early afternoon and the actual cruise, or parade if you like, usually starts at 8pm.
The live bands are usually good, and it's great to see 50, 60 and 70 year olds, and older, couples jiving in front of the band stand.
Some of it can appear to be a bit OTT to Brits but its always a fun and entertaining afternoon/evening even if your not into iconic 50's and 60's American classics.
This sounds great!

The hard core hot rod guys come out even when it's raining, as folk have said it's every weekend.

Pity the Blue Max has closed, that was a great bar, not keen on the beach themed one further down.

Get there early for parking and to walk around the hot rods and customs parked up... Fridays are more geared to the muscle car crowd and Thursday is bike night.

I too wondered as we were hoping for an evening there late August, sounds like the website is just not up to date then as we couldn't see our dates on their list either.

Have now heard back from Downtown directly. They have confirmed it will run every Saturday through August. Thanks all for the recommendations- we will go early to wonder round & park more easily.

Take a few dollars with you because there is a shop called black mountain minerals or something like that which sells some great little gift items for stick of rock type money. Daughter always likes to take her mates bits back from florida and they do some lovely bits in there for peanuts. Its worth getting a cab to if nearby so you can have a drink or three. They often have a band playing and the cars detailing is amazing for us limeys. We usually fill our faces at the golden corral just over the road. Funspot usa is next door and they have some great rides to watch like the vomitron

We went last August for the first time, we all loved it. It was a really good night out and looking to do it again this year.

Sorry for the dumb question but whats the difference between a muscle car & a hot rod? I'm trying to decide which night will appeal most to our party!

Hot Rods are older 20's to 50's heavily customised cars.

Muscle Cars are more modern, beefed up, usually 60' & 70's production cars.
