Publix

Hi,

Is there much of a difference between Publix and Walmart? We're staying at Vista Cay and apparently there is a Publix just across the road. For convenience it'll be easier for us to use this but I wondered if it'll have everything we need or if it'll be better to head to Walmart? We also want to stay on a bit of a budget so we have more money for shopping and dining out, is one cheaper than the other?

Thanks!

The price! Publix can be a lot dearer on some stuff. Think of them as Waitrose compared to Asda.

They're also no where near as huge as Walmart and mainly only carry groceries and a few household items.

We only go to Walmart to bulk buy sodas and water. Whilst we are there we buy toilet rolls and a polystyrene cool box too. Other than that, we buy everything else at Publix. The only other time we would visit Walmart is if we fancy a pizza in the condo one evening and Walmart fresh pizzas are delish (and huge)!

The Publix next to Vista Cay is excellent and so close to the resort that you can walk there for a smaller shop. Their roasted chickens straight from the oven are lovely for a cheap meal in the resort.

Thanks! I suppose we'll head to Publix the afternoon we arrive and then do a Walmart shop later on in the holiday.

The bakery is amazing! Their Chicago Italian beard, French baguettes and fresh donuts are wonderful. The hot food section and subs are also great x

No-one can beat the Publix chocolate iced doughnuts they are en par with Dunkin Doughnuts

Publix is great for convenience but everything is so much cheaper in Walmart - especially things like sub sandwiches (they are much bigger in Walmart too).

I'd choose Publix over Walmart any day, their own brand stuff it good quality, the bakery is brilliant and their cooked chocolate chicken is amazing, we'd often buy it for dinner.

Publix wine selection is better I think. We tend to shop at either Walmart or Target for groceries and the household stuff when in a villa. Have been to Publix for a few bits and bobs, but not a full shop as it's so expensive, but they did have a brand of wine that I like and haven't seen elsewhere.
