Any tips for the Yacht Club?

We are first timers staying at the Yacht Club this Oct/early Nov. Any tips would be appreciated?

Thanks

We're at the Yacht club at the moment. It really is a beautiful hotel and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful stay.

Things that might help you plan...

We requested a high floor room near an elevator at olci. We were given a room on floor 4 just by the lifts. Perfect location for our preference and 20 seconds to get to the lobby.

The Market is a great little find. It's a small food outlet that has all refillable drinks for the mugs and (limited) hot and cold food offerings. Cast members were so polite and helpful here and understood how to make the dining plan credits stretch as far as they could for you. A full selection of Twinnings teas (decaf and other) plus good hot coffee and hot chocolate for the mugs, plus coke freestyle machines for the cold options. Pastries were lovely and fresh plus a toaster and microwave for bagels etc.

The quiet pool is perfect to get away from it all. We never found more than a couple of people using it at a time. The laundrette is also here so you can swim while you wash! The laundrette is quiet and costs $3 for a wash cycle (approx 30 mins) and $3 for a dry cycle (up to one hours worth of drying) Payment is by card in the laundrette only - no cash.

Cold iced water is available in the lobby by the lifts for when you are returning to your room which was welcome.

The main pool gets very busy (or it does in July!) and we found it hard to find a sunbed at peak times, particularly when we arrived mid afternoon. This might not be such an issue at other times of year.

Likewise the car park was often full but we did find if we hung around for 5 minutes or so there was always some movement so we could get parked.

If you are walking to Epcot and depending on the weather want to maximise your inside time, you can walk the full length of the Yacht and Beach club indoors (almost with the exception of a small undercover section), exiting by the Beach club quiet pool and out to the Epcot entrance within minutes.

There is LOADS of storage space in the new rooms. Rooms also include an ironing board and iron, good powerful hairdryer (not one that's fixed to the wall) and coffee machine. The machine has a good selection of Twinnings and Joffreys coffee and tea pods which were restocked daily. We also got a bottle of water on day one but which wasn't replaced afterwards.

Toiletries were lovely quality (new, larger quantity H2O products) that included shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, body lotion, mouthwash and aftersun. They were gorgeous and restocked daily and with hindsight we didn't need to bring any of those products with us.

I hope this helps. Happy to answer any other questions you have x

Also here now,but checking out in the morning
I requested a high floor too and we got free upgrade to the 5th floor club level.
The marketplace shop is great and at present is still undergoing refurb so clothes etc are in the lobby.
Quiet pool area is closed off now as is the laundry...you can still access laundry facilities at the beach club. Not sure how long before area reopens but as other poster says it's a great peaceful area.
Beautiful place and I hope you have as good a time as we've had.

Thank you, that's all really helpful. I hope the parking isn't an issue as we have a hire car for our 17 night stay.

Did you find any other decent quick service options particularly for breakfast nearby? Thinking something suitable for kids with mickey waffles or similar.

What are the pool hours? IS the pool bar any good?

Thanks x

You'll be fine with parking. There are two car parks: one for guest parking and another for conference centre guests. You'll find something in one of them.

For breakfast we really stuck to the Market for convenience. Nearby there's the Beach club quick service (again limited) or you can venture over into Epcot and France's QS which has some lovely options. Not sure about Mickey Waffles nearby other than at the TS restaurants though.

The main pool is open 9am until 9pm at the moment I think although not sure if that varies seasonally. The quiet pools are open for longer from memory. Like all WDW pools though if there is a threat of lightening in the area they get closed down very quickly and we've seen that most days here, opening again once the storm or threat of storm has passed.

Pool bar is fine - nothing special really, just the standard Disney drinks menu and fairly limited QS offerings. Cast members do take orders from the sun loungers regularly as well.

Staying here at the end of September, do you have a fridge in the room? I think I read that you should have one but just checking.

Wow - a planner after my own heart! It looks like you're packing a lot in.

My only advice would be that it looks very intensive. It's more tiring than you might think being here and the kids in particular may find it hard keeping up that pace. You might want to build in some 'down' days and days to have a lie in (particularly after a few days or after a late evening the night before)

We always find evenings a challenge in the first few days due to the jet lag then later in the holiday end up with later mornings.

The food is rich and there's a lot of it and that coupled with the walking does have a culmulative effect. Be prepared to be flexible with your plans and cancel things if the family are flagging.
