Yes I panicked a bit when I saw Softy got on the road at 7 ish…we have dinner booked in Disney Springs at 7.30 on arrival day! I didn’t realise the Tampa flights were currently departing the UK later. We’re also due to land around 3.30 (22nd December).
I’m loving seeing everyone’s posts about how their travel days have been absolutely fine. Hope all who are there are having a fantastic holiday 😊.

On VA the mask wearing was enforced and even with small children I didn’t see masks pulled down. Immigration was fast and no questions about vaccinations or tests. Disney was much stricter on masks but even so lots of people pulling them down for photos on the rides. Universal was no masks.

Had tests done at Randox behind Raddisson Blu Edwardian LHR today, bit of trouble finding entrance to car park but tests very straight forward and approved within the hour. Had to screen shot and manually upload to Verifly, but again, approved within 10 mins, attestation straight forward and now all approved and ready to check in tomorrow. We had planned to travel up tomorrow and stay at Sofitel but pleased we brought the trip forward a day and stayed the extra night at Staybridge Suutes on Bath Road, which I’ve got to say is excellent. Fingers crossed check in goes as smoothly tomorrow.

It’s so easy if you know how lol. Head into main entrance but instead of swinging right into half moon lobby area, stay left and barrier to left hand side of hotel will open. Testing is in a tent in the rear car park. There are also alternative entrances to car park via road on right hand side of hotel but these are all locked and not in use. Test results came through very quickly.

Just one surprise today, checked in online with BA, dead on 9:40. Middle seats allocated but still no opportunity to change unless we paid. Always thought we could change free of charge at online checkin, maybe that’s changed?

I never prebook seats, however I was worried you wouldn't be able to pick seats at online check in so used some avios points to book seats in advance. Not best use of points but if we can't check in online for any reason we know we are sitting together and have window seat. Only did this for journey out. Hope you can change them at bag drop.

It sounds like they are moving the aircraft over to a different configuration and will want to seat those who have paid in as near identical seats as the previous. Hence not allowing those who haven't paid to select at checkin - that is the only reason I can think off (maybe hundred of others)

I moved my seats during online check in. BA then moved it again at passport check to a better seat. They will help you move at the airport, I was there exactly 3hrs before and was able to move.
However, when I boarded there was a lovely lady at my seat asking if I would swap with her so she could sit with her friend. I was already sitting separately from my husband and the man that was sitting in the seat nearest him was being awful to the cabin crew and they were trying to keep him happy (he wanted to sit in the Captain/Pilots rest seat). When it was obvious that everyone else was together in pairs I agreed to swap with her so that at least one of us was with our friend/partner. I didn’t see my husband for 9hrs and was next to sleeping pilots all flight 😂 |
