Magic bands still working?

Hey All,

Any idea if you can check if a magic band is still working?

Have some from 2019 and would like to use them next year (August) as I dont really want to rely on everything being on my phone. Not sure what the shelf life of them is.

They will still work for 95% of the functionality.

There is a battery inside that powers the long range chip that may die after a few years, but this is only used for things like auto-adding on-ride photos to your MDE account. Anything where you physically tap the band uses a short range chip (like a contactless card) and will be fine.

How would you add the ride photos then if the magic band doesn�t pick it up?

Apparently they've updated the app now so that it can pick up the photos directly. You will need to have bluetooth on and not be in battery saver mode.

2019 magic bands shouldn't be a problem - we just used ours from a 2018 trip and had no issues.
