Not everything, no.
Just out of interest, when paying on a card, are you always made aware what exchange rate you’re getting? This is one thing that puts me off.

But that’s your travel insurance you’re referring to. Other providers and policies are available
I just pick a policy that covers the amount of cash we’re taking, it’s perfectly straightforward.

You won’t be made aware at the time, if the card terminal asks you if they want to convert it will tell you a rate then, but it is pretty awful and you should always let the card do the conversion moreso if you have a specialist card, but depending on the card, I.e Halifax clarity, you’ll be getting the interbank exchange rate on that day, which is significantly better than any exchange rate you would get in cash, assuming there isn’t any major fluctuations between the time you get the cash and you going away.

For example I was in Florida over the brexit vote, and the day before the vote I took out a load of cash incase it crashed (which it did).

Always pay in $$$. If you pay in £££, you get a rubbish exchange rate.

Well, yes….

I think that amount is pretty standard across insurance companies (based on various Dibb threads over the years!) but you can insure anything if you’re prepared to pay the price.

If you use something like the Halifax Clarity you know that you will always get the best possible rate available as they use the interbank rate.

Found this really interesting: unexpectedlygeeky/new-cr...-world-hotels/

My current plan: register a card at WDW resort (and you can't opt out of this now) that I do NOT intend to use.

Let that card take the $100 hold and forget about it.

Charge everything else manually to another CC, NOT to my Magic Band as usual.

Take a minimal amount of cash.

I'll miss the Magic Band charging, but I don't want to be dealing with the nightmare of multiple pending charges that stick for weeks after getting home.

Sounds a good plan.

I really wish travellers cheques were still a thing, that is how we sorted it last time, paying off every few days.

Used to love those. Although had some trouble with them in Greece one time!

My first ever trip abroad as a teenager, I just shoved a load of cash in my socks 😂 Bit more complex now.
