Big changes for France from 21st July including DLP

From next Wednesday, July 21, you will have to be vaccinated, tested negative, or recovered from covid to enjoy many activities with our French neighbors.

You will have to show your Covid certificate at the entrance of all cultural and leisure venues, but also theaters, cinemas, amusement parks. The French call it the "sanitary pass". But our Belgian app, CovidSafe.be, works. No need to download an additional one.

In summary : If you have been vaccinated with two doses for more than two weeks, or if you had the Covid less than 6 months ago, no worries. If not, you will have to show a negative Covid test, which is less than 48 hours old. A PCR test (which costs 48 euros) or an antigen test (25 euros).

From the beginning of August, the 'sanitary pass' becomes even more extensive: it will be compulsory at the entrance to bars and restaurants. There is still a vagueness about the outdoor terraces.

A "health pass" also useful at the entrance of shopping centers, medical places, hospitals, retirement homes or to take the plane, train, bus.

The 'sanitary pass' was already compulsory to go to a nightclub in France. In general, it will be in all places where there are more than 1000 people.

What about young people over 12?

Many of you send us questions via the orange Alert us button. Many questions from parents concerning their children over 12 years old.

Know that they are indeed affected by the new French measures. However, most Belgian teenagers are not vaccinated. It will therefore be necessary to carry out tests regularly (every 48 hours). And since last Wednesday, these tests are paying for foreign tourists.

For children under 12, no test or vaccination obligation. Except for those aged 11, a negative test is required when entering the territory and to access the various activities.

The French President Macron recently addressed the nation to unveil new measures meant to mitigate the spread of Covid across the country.

Among these measures, he confirmed that a sanitary pass will be required as of July 21st for all leisure and cultural locations gathering more than 50 people.

Although myself and OH are fully vax, our sons are 18 (waiting to see if he can rebook 2nd jab earlier than the current 8 weeks) and 11 (so not jabbed).

This was our back up plan that we only booked yesterday.

Sorry if we seem to have brought our Florida August woes to the DLP side as well!

Looks like we have to cancel our trip for the end of July.
We are traveling with a 13 & 14 year old.

To many risks and what if's, and also the teens don't want to get tested 3 times in 5 days.

So what are the rules. Will you still need s test to enter France. As this seems a measure for people already their and using leisure or cultural establishments.

I think that remains to be seen at the moment. They do accept the NHS app for proof of vaccination to enter France, but there is a big difference between training the border force on accepting the NHS app and informing every entertainment venue across the country and expecting them to recognise it (and speak English to read it).

So it might well be it isn't accepted. Hopefully they confirm either way quickly.

I won’t be going when this rule is in place. Disneyland paris was our back up Florida trip for next year. Looking like legoland Windsor instead!

Will holidays ever look the same again?! If some countries go ahead with vaccinating kids and therefore will only accept fully vaccinated kids going forward that will be a problem for me as I have no intention of giving this jab to my kids.
I had been considering a few days in DLP later in the year but that looks unlikely, DH and I are both vaccinated but I don’t want to have to keep testing my kids every 48 hours at my expense to be able to go
