I was wondering exactly the same as we are going to New York next Thursday, and returning Monday, so wondered if I could do the form before we go to save hassles. I have my "day 2" kit so interested to hear

You can't complete the form until 48 hours before your return flight, it won't let you submit it.

No. It has to be within 48 hours

Although there is nothing to stop you setting up your gov.uk account before you go. That way your details will be saved and then submitting your PLF 48 hours before your return will be quicker.
I already had an account following trips to Europe and first time was a bit more time consuming as I had to set up an account

I'm trying to create an account for the plf, and it keeps telling me my number is an invalid format. What am I doing wrong? I've missed off the 0, the 07, tried to add 44!
