Over 60 s advised not to travel by WHO- edit, WHO now issued clarification, say meant non jabbed only

Sky

Over-60s should postpone travel due to Omicron, WHO says
As fears grow over the impact on the festive season of the emergence of Omicron, the World Health Organisation has just issued new advice.
It says those over the age of 60 or at risk of developing serious illness due to COVID should postpone international travel due to the new variant.

EDIT- despite WHO issuing an edict that over 60ís should not travel, which was linked below and widely reported, they have now issued a correction and said they actually meant over 60ís not vaccinated (despite not saying this initially).

Itís difficult to understand how WHO could be so incompetent.

Iím guessing this would have implications for travel insurance if ignored?

I don't really understand this - it seems we have plenty of Omicron at home already!

Probably not actually. Until FCDO change, insurance prob wonít kick in if you did cancel

Full guidance here:

who.int/news-room/articl...micron-variant

It also advices against travel if you have ĎCo- morbidityí such a heart disease which makes you at more risk if you catch Covid.

Check your policy wordings to ensure you are covered if over 60. Mine would operate as normal, but Iím unsure if there are policy wordings out there which would include a WHO warning.

Is this the same WHO that last weekend said international travel bans were an over reaction, no wonder we are all wondering if the left hand knows what the right hand is doing!

They still say that, but now say in this document not to travel if over 60 and countries may implement multi layered approaches to stopping spread such as quarantine.
