Magic Band still active?

Hi,

We were last in WDW in 2015 and the whole family had magic bands. We are returning this year and I was wondering if our bands would still work on our next trip. I logged into MDE and all bands are showing as 'active' but I know from searching this forum that some of the fuctions expire after about 12-18 months. Could I just buy one new one to get photopass linked and the rest use the old ones if they are still active?

We had ours in Aug 2015 and they worked Aug 2017. Hoping they will still be ok for 2018!

The short range part for entry and FP+ activation will always work. It is the long range section that has a battery. This is only used for the automatic ride photos. Everything else like scanning the ride photos and photo pass will work anyway.

So as long as you realise you might not get the video on 7DMT and ToT then you are good to go.

Thanks for the replied.

I'm not too bothered about those videos anyway. One child lost their band so it needs replaced anyway so I guess their new band would pick up any videos?
