Cancelled BA flights from LBA.

Last Sept we booked indirect flights from LBA our local airport to fly to Canada via Gatwick. Flights are 18th August and obviously doubt we will be going but still hoping!
However Covid19 has already impacted and BA have pulled out of Leeds Bradford for good and our flights have been cancelled to and from London but the Canada flights are still live atm.
We would still go potentially if we are allowed subject to quarantine etc but not sure how this affects our tickets as a whole. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?

My son is flying BA home from HK this week. The second leg (LHR to our local French airport) was cancelled. He ended up having to fly to Paris instead but BA made him pay over �150 for the privilege as we decided to change the final destination (didn�t have much choice as he needs to get home
