My last car purchase was an Audi Q3 about six months old from registered dealer. I booked it from photos when I was still living in Australia. After I arrived back in UK, my next door neighbour drove us to the garage and I paid for it on my debit card. I think we also had their insurance for a week or two. All done in thirty minutes, and nothing remotely stressful.

I have never found buying a car stressful tbh.

It helps to take a few precautions, not just at home but also when driving around.
Always keep doors locked, you can change your car settings to autolock every time you drive off, think default is not to do so.
Lock car at petrol stations when filling up or checking tyre pressures.
Always put up windows at traffic lights or in queues.
Check nobody is following you home. If you are suspicious take a different route, it's a good idea to vary it anyway.
Be careful in car parks that nobody is watching you.

Seems odd at first but after a while it becomes totally routine.

I know! Had a test drive on Saturday and I had to check the back to see if there was a NASA logo on it! First thing I said to DW after reading the spec-list was "How do they fit so much stuff in one car? "
