What is this? *UPDATED - Pg 8*
On 20th October, I went for a dog walk with a friend. She was 6.5 months pregnant, so we weren't exactly racing around, but I found myself unusually out of breath. When I got home I noticed I chest was sore, not severe but uncomfortable.
I went to the GP on the 21st, couldn't believe there was an appointment, and he sent me to A&E. As it had come on suddenly he was worried about a clot. A blood test, ECG and CT scan later, A&E told me I'd probably strained a muscle in my sleep and there was nothing wrong with me. They put my raised temperature down to me wearing layers. The ache disappeared after a few days. I'm still struggling with getting out of breath. I am a runner, I did a half marathon in May and can normally do 5/6 miles no bother. I did 4.5km on Tuesday, with quite a bit of walking in there, and I was struggling to catch my breath when I finished. Its not just running, I'm out of breath walking up a couple of flights of stairs or a short hill. I also get out of breath if I'm talking enthusiastically. Today I've noticed the ache in my chest is back, front and back. Its not all the time but sometimes. I'm also still getting out of breath easily. I struggle to accept the muscle strain explanation. I know I should go back to the Dr, and I intend to. I can get an appointment in 2 weeks. Just wondering if I should call on Monday and ask for one of the on the day ones? I don't like doing that, as I always think someone else is worse off, but I am getting a bit worried about what is going on as its been nearly 3 weeks!

Kate, don’t get advice from someone on here. Go to your doctor or a qualified medical advisor. Do you have a walk-in centre on the IOM?
Hope you feel better soon x |

No walk in centre here. I'm going to go to the Dr - I just don't want to take an urgent appointment unless it warrants it.
My iron has been low, I could feel it, but for the last few weeks I've been taking spatone, eating molasses (grim), taking Voost multivitamin (like Berocca, but its got iron in), so things should be on the up? I don't know if they checked my iron at the hospital - my GP's letter did document my history of iron and B12 deficiency, he put everything down as belt and braces.

Might it be pleurisy? DH went to the Dr’s a few months ago now and sent him to the hospital with a suspected heart attack, thankfully it wasn’t but it did take another couple of trips to the Dr’s before he was finally diagnosed and treated.
His symptoms were shortness of breath, and sharp pains in the arm and/or chest area. The pain wasn’t always present but uncomfortable for him at times. Please go to see your GP as soon as possible... Could you get an appointment this afternoon/evening?

Was also going to suggest anaemic and also Vitamim D levels. When I was vitamin D deficient, I could barely walk up the stairs. I felt about 90.
Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. |

Call the surgery and tell them your symptoms. I would expect them to see you today with chest and breathing issues. Don’t leave it over the weekend.
