Best club world seats
I have been saving up my avios to get some club world seats to LA and it’s about time to get them booked. As this is the first time we have flown club world I want it to be the best it can be so I’m interested in knowing peoples thoughts on which plane and what seats they recommend.
I have been having a look and points guy recommends upper deck on 747 beside the emergency exit as it means no climbing over which I would like to avoid. There are 2 of us , and while it would be great to sit together I would honestly rather not climb over anyone. Thanks as always. |

Hi - I’m pretty sure that one of you will have to climb over someone or be climbed over by someone - my biggest gripe with BA. They are rolling out club world suites at the moment which will be a big improvement and end this problem, but it’s going to take time. Keep an eye out on the plane type for your route and keep your fingers crossed.

If you have BAEC Silver status or above you can prebook the Upper Deck seats that you have mentioned without charge.
The 2020 winter timetable at the moment are scheduled to operate the following aircraft BA 283 (747 with UD), BA 281 (787 No UD) and BA 269 (A380 with UD). I suggest looking at the following website thebasource/seat-maps/ and perhaps try a dummy booking to have a look at seating (by choosing a fully flexible fare). |

I only have bronze so 7 days out. I would pay to get the seats I wanted. Thanks though, I will have a look at this link.

Pay now as LA are very popular and busy flights if you want particular seats or to be sat together - I fly to LAX a lot and have never seen an empty seat in J or F

The ‘avoid climbing or being climbed over’ only really works if you sit in the rear most row by the window. It means you enter/exit your seat by walking between the baulkhead and the back of the aisle seat that is next to you. But whoever is in that aisle seat (ie your other half) will be climbed over by whoever is in the window seat in the row ahead of you. So not possible to avoid on both seats (the aisle seat that avoids this is at the very front of the cabin but then the equivalent window seat requires you to climb over someone)
I’d not worry about it tbh. You’re unlikely to snag these seats unless your a gold card holder. You could give it a go but I don’t think the odd climb over is going to ruin it. Enjoy the flight. |

Just to warn you they cost more than economy seats do to pre-book. I'm very lucky, as I don't have to pay due to medical reasons, but I was shocked at the cost.
