Epcot pick a pearl

I remember reading a trip report where a dibber gave advise on which shell to choose to get a better pearl, only thing is I have read so many I cant remember which report it was

Can anyone give advice or post the link. I normally screen shot my 'dibb tips' but missed this one.

Thank you

Kerry

I look at these every time I see them in Disney and so when I saw them in Las Vegas in June I just couldn't resist!

I was told to go for the uglier looking shells. Ones with growth looking things on - shows they're a bit older.

I chose one and got a lovely white/cream pearl inside. I had it set onto a white gold necklace with a tiny diamond and wore it for our vow renewal two days later. Finished my dress off a treat.

The lady also let me choose a second shell for free. My hubby chose one and the second pearl is a gorgeous light pink. I've had it drilled ready to take to Disney with me to have it set into something I can link to Disney.

I'll warn you now though, they are obliged to try to sell you some jewellery to set it into. You don't have to buy but you have to go through the routine. The lady serving me started off with the most expensive setting at over $1000. I quickly said we need to come right down in price! We ended up paying around $175 in total but I didn't go for the cheapest.

Great fun to do and something special to remind you of your trip!

We did this yesterday at the Japan pavilion. It cost $17 and my daughter picked an ugly, algae covered oyster. When they opened it it was a blue pearl that was size 8!

Yes we did it at Epcot and didn't buy any jewellery and there was no pressure to do so. Actually my sister did want to buy the carriage to put hers in but the pearl was too big to fit!

Yes you can. No need to buy anything else and no hard sell to do so either

My Daughter picked a smaller one but it was quite round and she ended up with Twins!

Not sure if there is any tips as im pretty sure its quite random, ive got about 4 now from Japan in Epcot, its just something I have to do.

I had some earrings made out of DDs for her birthday a few years ago and she has a necklace from one we got at Christmas.

I got a white 7 3/4 pearl and bought this pearl cage and chain off eBay when I got home. I barely managed to get the pearl in and close the clasp tho, so any bigger might be hard to get jewellery for
