Gatwick Premium passport control - any good?
Looking for some advice. Last year we booked premium security on the way out and we felt it was well worth the price for the quieter more laid back experience.
We are thinking this year of trying premium passport control on return to Gatwick (South) to try and speed up the process. Has anyone used it recently? What did you think? |

Are you automatic gate eligible? I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for these at either terminal, so have yet to try the premium service as haven't seen the need.
Although if I was travelling on a non-UK passport, I'd definitely pay for it. Those lines can be insane. |

We always use it. Yes, sometimes it’s a bit of a waste of money because there’s no queue but it’s so quick and easy. We’ve never had to wait at all.
A lot of people say there’s no point because you’ve got to wait for your bags, but I’d rather wait in an open space than in a queue! |

For what it costs, it's worth it. We landed last summer at 6.30am on a Sunday with 2 exhausted children and were in the terminal headed to our Bloc day room within moments. Queues were not long at conventional passport control and we werent really in a hurry, but the swift entry was much appreciated by my tired family.

With the new automatic gates at Gatwick there was no queue and we whizzed through in about 2 minutes - it was fab so unless you are going at super peak time I'm not sure whether it would be worth paying extra for premium?

As mentioned above, if you have children (under 12) you can't use the automatic gates.

I'm fairly sure there was a sign up saying children with their own passport could now use the gates when we went through... not 100% though

Not according to Gatwick gatwickairport/at-th...sport-control/
Of course, their website could easily be out of date.
