Reward flight availability

We are Florida veterans but have never been over to the West Coast - other than a short trip to Vegas nearly 20 years ago.

As we are limited to school holidays, I was wondering what Virgin reward availability was like during the summer holidays. I know that it is often impossible to get anything to MCO so wondered about LAX and SFO.

We would either do LAX/LAX or SFO/LAX and are hoping for Upper seats. Does anyone have any experience of this?

There are a few search engines like seatspy you can use. LAX is a busy flight(s) with full fare J seats but the odd rewards seat does pop up if you are flexible with your dates. SFO is near impossible (in J) with it being blue chip employees filling the cabin. Both destinations have a fair few UNIQ pax that will get first dibs on any rewards but I have flown both on rewards (one pax) so it is possible. You need to be flexible, check daily and be ready to pounce as soon as you seen them come up. Good luck - also summer is actually a quieter time as business passengers will be thinner on the ground so I would say easier than outside of main summer

Meant to say calling flying club is often very rewarding as I have known them open up seats in Upper for us (5 pax) with a mixture of reward and £. In short the agent made it possible for me (to MCO)

We found reward flights into SEA more available but we have been lucky enough to get them into LAS too (never managed SFO or LAX!)

(For Upper)
