Well it's a huge culture shock so far. It feels a lot dirtier, less safe, lots of people heckling for your business, no.customer service and people much less polite. To be fair, so far all we have done is explore a bit of Nathan Road and the ladies market so far, so it is probably far too early to judge. We are off to Ngong Ping this morning up the cable car, so we will see how that goes.

Yes I think I am getting the culture shock you talked about just here in HK rather than back home. I have enjoyed going to Ngong Ping this morning though and seeing the big Buddha statue. I think in am acclimatising to this new environment.

Yes we are going to HK Disney. We have one more sightseeing day in HK tomorrow when we are going up the Peak. Then we have 2 days in Disney and we fly home at the end of the second day.

Sorry for delayed response - we had 2 days in Disney then travelled home. We got home yesterday.

HK Disney I really liked, it was much quieter than the Tokyo parks (and opened at 10am compared to 8am). The queues were not that bad until after lunch. The people were not as polite as those in Japan, lots of pushing in lines, and the cast members were not as polite and friendly, plus everyone had mobile phones and phtotgraphed/videoed everything (even Philharmagic) so you had to watch most things with everyone holding screens up. They had some good rides though. I really liked Mystic Manor and Space Mountian had a Star Wars theme. The castle is tiny in HK. Even though I was expecting it to be, it was still a shock how small it was. There was much more English available and spoken in HK compared to Tokyo e.g. You can choose English for Jungle Cruise and Philharmagic was in English. In Tokyo most rides and shows were in Japanese (as you would expect) with no translation.

I'm very glad and lucky to have had the opportunity to visit both places and Disney parks.

Back to work tomorrow :-(

We keep doing Florida but would love to do Tokyo! If only for all the Duffy merchandise! Though I may order some stuff through a Disney shopper, much cheaper than a holiday 🙁

Yes they are totally crazy about Duffy over there - but if you do go be prepared to queue for everything. There was a huge queue for most of the day to get into the big Duffy merchandise shop, they have to limit how many people go in at a time. But then again you have to queue for everything including all the snack carts (particularly all the flavoured popcorns) and even the vending machines for drinks.

Having said that it is a great experience and the theming in the parks and rides are brilliant, so although insanely busy and lots of queues for everything, we still had a great time.
