Security - pins on backpack?
Good morning guys. We go in under two weeks so here comes the daft questions Me and my friend have got backpacks for travelling and we purchased an array of brooches to decorate for our trip. Will they flag up on the security scanners at the airport? Don’t want to cause a delay if it can be avoided. They are made like brooches rather than pins* |

Yes in my opinion they could get taken off you at security. Far better to take them of and put them in your checked luggage and then put them back onto the rucksack at the other end.
Better to be safe than sorry ! |

The do allow some small scissors and I've never had problems with these although I've had the scissors blades measured once to ensure it was within the allowed range (2inch I think) so it should be ok but why risk it.

I carry my pin badges I am taking back to trade in my hand luggage as don't trust them getting damaged or lost in the hold. Never had any problems taking them through security.

My son has quite a few badges and pins on his rucksack - was no issue.

I love the idea that scissors being 2.0 inches is fine, but 2.1 inches is a security threat.

The bag will pass through security with no issues at all.
