That's lovely. Your post has made my day. Well done to Dad.

He's a legend - still goes fishing twice a week and does all his own housework and gardening! I hope I wear as well :-)

We got home from Florida on the weekend and I went straight to bed at my mums as I hadn’t slept on the plane. Woke up 3 hours later to all the laundry washed and drying on the line, with my kids laundry being ironed by my mum!

We are probably far too close and are in and out of each other’s houses all the time helping with things, bit like being an extended family spread across two houses.

I think it’s a welsh thing, we are just naturally very family orientated

I love it I think it’s great for the kids I’m the family too to always have someone nearby or to talk to.
I’m Irish... maybe it’s a Celtic thing.

My parents do a lot for me. My mum looks after DD once a week for me and generally takes a load of DD's washing with her and brings it back all clean and dry.

I don't expect anything from them and would never ask, but I'm incredibly grateful for everything they do. My mum's mindset is similar to your's TM, my DH and I are both out working full time while she has time on her hands as she doesn't work any more.

I try and return the favour by helping them out when they need it and making sure that I look after their house and buy them some essentials for the fridge whenever they go on holiday.
