Ottawa is a lovely city, definitely worth a visit (OK I’m biased, my sister and family have lived there for the last 26 years!)
Also try to get to one of the parks such as Algonquin or Muskoka which should be within reach for you, and have a few days in a lakeside cottage. My sister’s in-laws had one for years (sadly now sold) and we had some lovely breaks there.

Ottawa definitely, I loved it, we took a drive out to Parc Omega which was a lovely park with bison, musk ox etc etc you drive around it but it is 100% better than any safari park
It was very cold when we went -30 and snowing but it was beautiful downtown Ottawa is very walkable and very different to Toronto

We love Toronto but its nice to get out of the city and drive up to Niagara and Niagara on the lake
I only spent a short time in Montreal but what I saw was very nice

Yes, I second Parc Omega. We went about 15 years ago (quite shocked to realise how long ago it was!) and it was brilliant.

Last September we spent 6 nights New York and flew to Niagara Falls USA side , thought it was much nicer that side of the falls . We did walk across the bridge to the Canada side and found it very tacky that side , defo made the right choice to stay on the USA side .
