Award Winning & non 'chain' restaurant map + POI download for satnavs
UPDATE FOR 2023 INCOMING. SEE MY LAST POST FOR INFO
WTH IS THIS? ive started work on collecting some of my favourite places to eat, as well as places listed on the likes of orlandoweekly and orlandosentinel's "best places to eat" lists... its a work in progress, so check back regularly for updates, but theres already enough there to get you started... theres also a growing non-food section, with handy poi's like the parking garage for universal (rather than a staff entrance or wherever the standard address takes you) and other useful places like that, plus loads of alternative places to visit (silvermoon drive-in, showmens museum, a handy carpark for siesta key beach, etc) google/maps/d/edit?m...A8&usp=sharing USING THESE POI'S ON A SATNAV these POIs can be exported to KML, then converted to OV2 format (for tomtom satnavs) or other satnav compatible formats by running it through gps-data-team/convert.php but heres a copy of the files for those of you too lazy to export/convert them yourself *last update 24 APRIL 2018* OV2 (tomtom satnav) - click here for instructions how to install to your device dropbox/s/wyrf6gb6ca...018v3.ov2?dl=0 GPX (garmin satnav) - click here for instructions how to install to your device dropbox/s/lvkhyldrl0...018v2.gpx?dl=0 OTHER FORMATS IF YOU WANTED TO PLAY KML: dropbox/s/rrmmtag221...018v2.kml?dl=0 CSV: dropbox/s/o420j6dwep...018v2.csv?dl=0 update - august 2019. if you want to import them all into phone apps (waze/here wego/etc) then have a read of post 145... https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...&postcount=145 HOW TO INSTALL ON YOUR SATNAV click here for instructions for tomtom If you use MyDrive Connect, plug your device in via usb, and click this URL - you should then be able to upload the OV2 file directly to the device. click here for instructions for garmin others will probably work too, you just need to get them in the correct format - see above for a link to convert the file to other formats SOURCES OF INFO *new - April 2018 - updated sentinel foodie awards* orlandosentinel/food-...foodie-awards/ floridatoday/story/te...unch/99730718/ 10 great places to watch a rocket launch orlandosentinel/enter...htmlstory.html - also includes 2014/2015/2016 entries as well as 2017 orlandoweekly/orlando/BestOf (2014/2015 food and drink sections) tripadvisor/Restaur...o_Florida.html (most of the top 50 rated on tripadvisor as of august 2015) as well as a bunch of places i've been to myself over the years. I try to avoid chain restaurants in general, and whilst some of these may technically be chains (seasons 52 for example) they are about as far away from the likes of red lobster you'll get. CAN I HELP? I'm looking for help expanding this list and potentially helping to collate/edit it, so if you think youre up to the job, please let me know! if you dont want to help edit, but have any suggestions for places to add, just reply on here with some info (website url, address, that sort of thing) and ill consider adding it... another way of helping is by replying to this thread to keep it active and stop it getting lost amongst all the onsite/olive garden recommendation threads Edited at 11:14 PM. |

i've also started compiling POIs for "other" non-food places to visit away from the parks, but thats quite limited as yet... at some point, i'm going to get the POIs off my holiday tomtom and get them all added into this list
i'm hoping to expand the lists out of orlando and do the likes of miami/tampa/etc, but for now i'm concentrating on the main area |
