A bit of fun - your first time ever in a Disney park

Let's take our minds off this virus for a bit and let's go back in time!

It would be fun if you could answer the following questions - I'll start:

- What was your first ever Disney park? Magic Kingdom in 1990

- How old were you? 16

- Who was with you? My sister then 10, and my parents

- What was your very first attraction? We started in Adventureland, first thing we saw was the Swiss Robinson Family Treehouse, so we did that and we already thought it was amazing Little did we know what was in store!

- Initial impression at the end of the first day? Blown away! At the time there was no Internet, so we had no idea about anything. I remember going on Pirates for the first time and my jaw dropping when we got into the battle scene. I had never seen anything like it!

Your turn!

First park was MK back in June 1990.

Joan and I were both 44 and our daughters 16 and 12.

Oddly enough our first ride was on the carousel but maybe Peter Pan was the first true attraction. I remember atrocious queues even back then.

I think we were completely overwhelmed after that first day. We could only do HS and EPCOT then in WDW. Universal had only been open a week or so and the queues there were even worse with half the stuff down.

Our very first photo in the USA. The sun did come out later.

We only stayed a week at Fantasy World. That's our white Buick Skylark.

Then spent the second week here

We went around the same time - Universal was a disaster, nothing worked and we got our money back. I was gutted!

I remember queuing for around 1.5 hours for ET, reaching the door and thinking we'd made it - only to queue for another hour through the "woods". All for three minutes on a bike

They gave us a free return ticket I think which we couldn't use as we were heading for the coast and didn't have a spare day.

Great Thread!

What was your first ever Disney park? Magic Kingdom (5 Oct 1981 - 10th Anniversary) Ticket was $5 I believe.

- How old were you? 20

- Who was with you? 2 Mates

- What was your very first attraction? I think it was the early version of the Skyliner in MK then 20000 Leagues under the sea, then Space Mountain

- Initial impression at the end of the first day? I too was Blown away! Met the Haarlem Globetrottrers too.

Had leave for a week in the Orlando area. Spent weekend in Sarasota water-ski-ing, then with two other lads got dropped off on 192 ( was Sheraton Lakeside now a Best Western) Visited MK, EPCOT was under construction, Wet and Wild was open. No other parks. Caught a Greyhound Bus back to NAS Jacksonville.

I remember watching with wonder Breakfast TV as Anwar Sadat was assassinated in Egypt.(6 Oct).

Fell in love with the USA from that trip. How things have changed since then.

I had to queue for Jaws, Kongfrontation, Earthquake... for nothing.

We did go back the following year and everything worked apart from Jaws

Third time was the charm!

Yeah same - for a long time I saw the US through holiday tinted glasses and thought it was the greatest country in the world! Then I grew up. I still love going though!

They were filming Psycho 4 when we were there in 1990 - straight to cable TV I recall . Olivia Hussey walked by us as she walked to the sound stage.

We could not believe that they sold ice creams with a choice of 100 Flavours...
Free Transport to the parks from the hotel - the pool outside our door.
It was indeed truly magical.
