Well as we draw towards Christmas and another year nearly gone, thought I would do another update.
Emma is still at M&S , she is now working on the food department ; initially it took her a while to adjust but she seems to be finding her feet there now. She is back up to 20-odd hours ,it never seems the same pattern - I just get told to pick her up every now and then . The bonus of her working in food is she does do a shift that finishes at 8pm sometimes, so she brings home plenty of free "yellow sticker" stuff, that helps with the family food budget quite a bit. She has started doing a part time teaching assistant course in Bury at the University section there. just s couple of times a week. She did teaching assistant volunteering at one primary school one day a week until the Summer at one local school , that ended but she is due to start up doing 2 days a week volunteering at another local primary school in the New Year . It is a requirement of the course that she is on that she is "working" in as school setting. She doesn't seem to have the confidence yet to get a paid job at a school but the more experience she gets , the more she will realise she can do that role. I am sure that is what she will end up doing long term. Her health is largely unchanged - life goes on, her weight is stable, she still gets anxiety around food and conveniently "forgets" to have snacks or parts of her lunch , and she will throw the odd wobbly but we don't try to challenge her too much with new foods as we know how it will go down. She doesn't have a therapist as such but does have regular visits to specialists to monitor her. Her bones seems to be the biggest concern at the moment. She found out this week that a patient who who in the Priory just before Emma was has passed as a result of her anorexia at age 24. Although Emma never met her, one of her friends knew her, and its quite a sobering thought. Things could certainly be much worse for us now without the Priory. Rest in Peace Milly. The rest of the family are all reasonably Ok . We had issues with my mum for a few months with mental and physical health issues mid year but she seems to be in a better place now and she is cooking for us tomorrow. My sister still loves wine far too much for her own good; i thought her drinking was getting totally out of control a few months ago, but things seem calmer. I don't ask her boyfriend how her drinking is but rely on him to let me know of any crisis points. Our son who also works at M&S has now started a degree in Accounting at ManMet Uni - he seems to be enjoying that and seems to be juggling work ( on a reduced contract now but doing plenty of shifts over Xmas to get him some funds) and Uni and going out well. My dad is doing well for nearly 84 and seems to be enjoying spending our inheritance on coach trip up and down the country . Good luck to him Me and the missus are just the same , in the same old jobs, definitely I will be looking to cut down at some point as turning 56 in the New Year and still working too hard - it takes a toll as you get older so glad of a few days off over Xmas. Anyway all the best to you and yours

I always read your updates but have never commented because I never knew what to say for the best, but I think of your family often.
I would just like to say that you and your wife genuinely are an inspiration, I do not know where you get the strength. I am so glad that family life has been moving in a positive direction and you are all making plans and looking to the future. Best wishes to you all, for Christmas and the coming year. Thank you for sharing your famly’s journey with us 😊 |

That really is great news. The status quo is a good place to be sometimes especially when you think where you could be. I hope you all have a restful few days, take care

Thanks for the update, I think of Emna now and again and wonder how she is doing. Sounds like everything is ticking nicely in a good direction, not perfect but not too bad considering the sad news you received 💔
Happy Christmas to you and your family 🎅🎄❤️ |

Thank you to everyone who has liked or commented .
It just proves that in the event of a downturn , people will be here from the Dibb family to support if required It always amazes me that people think about a random family from the internet , but thank you very much for your nice words
