you can also buy tape in a dispenser that you just run along the thing you want to stick and it comes out very unmessy
 I like double sided tape and glue dots too.My girls take things like the klutz art/craft books there is so many to choose from. They might be an option.

I would say it would be fine. And i am not having a go at anyone else, but i certainly wouldn't mind if a toddler was sat quietly next to me sticking and crafting, she really isn't going to get that messy with less than 100mls is she.
