Cats Missing A Person, Keep Fighting. What Can I Do?
This isnt easy for me to write...
Scott left me at christmas & im now muddling through single life on my own. Im actually doing really well, im quite a positive person so trying not to dwell on things i cant change but it is extremely tough. Over christmas I was with my family & he was at home with our two furr babies, Oreo & Gingey who I love just like i would children. When I came home on boxing day we noticed that Gingey had a bad ear and Oreo at the base of his tail from fighting Thankfully as they are house cats (and have been all their lives) they didnt get infected & healed up fine. I bought a Feliway Friends plug in and have replaced it when it ran out, which I will continue to do. So they have had a few little spats since then but I got woken up by a fight this morning and just came home from work and Oreo has been at the recieving end as there is furr everywhere So what do I do? I cannot split them up because Id be broken hearted, they otherwise get on & spend loads of time snuggling up and being friendly so i dont get what starts them off. The house has reasonable amount of space so they arent on top of each other I feel that they are having seperation anxiety from Scott. Oreo especially was always a daddies boy and i think he is missing him. I try to give extra cuddles but im not the same. I did think about maybe asking for a t shirt or something that Scotts worn as Oreo would love sleeping on his clothes but i just dont know If I should involve him because it hurt him enough to leave our home and leave them behind as it is. Im not sure adding extra guilt that they are so unhappy is going to make this harder for him which I dont want. I havent changed much in the house, other than the photos on the walls so its not an environment change just a person missing from their lives I cannot do anything about. Has anyone experienced this?

For them... and you, it's early days yet. Give them time and lots of cuddles.

Sorry to hear about your breakup.
How strange. I read that cats don't actually miss people (although I'm sure mine misses me 🤔 Maybe they are both fighting to become top cat in replacement of your ex? Could there be any health issues. Like one is in pain with a sore tooth and lashes out?

I'm so sorry to read your news. As others have said, it's early days for you all - maybe get them both checked at the vets for any issues, sometimes there are things we can't see, just as a precaution.

So sorry to hear your news xx
Yes it might be worth just getting a check up for both of them - our 2 were fighting a lot more than normal and turned out one of them had a sore on his neck that was making him more grumpy than normal. Once that was treated they went back to tolerating each other again. So could just be a timing coincidence.

So sorry to hear your news.
Our cats used to do everything together and snuggle together but now can't be around each other. They like their own spaces and places and we have a couple of cat posts which have tops on where they can jump sit and sleep for their own space. We've also recently got some squidgy footstools for us but they've taken them over but they like their own particular one ! Can adjustments and things indoors help with them having their own places.
