We walked up Dovedale, over the top from Milldale to escape from some of the crowds, and back down Hall Dale, then went to Ilam Park for a cream tea - about 8 miles in total. Simply glorious day. Even our lab, who is scared of water after an unfortunate encounter with an icy cold moat as a puppy (he launched himself in from quite a height!) had a little paddle.

Dovedale was very busy but it was really lovely to see so many families and groups of people of all ages and races getting out and enjoying a walk in the sunshine. And all for the cost of £3 parking (free if you park at Milldale and go down then up, rather than up then down )

What a lovely end to the summer

Sorry no good at posting photos, but our daughter and partner are in the highlands of Scotland at Loch Insh celebrating her partner's brother's wedding. They have been so lucky with the weather that on Friday they even swam in the Loch

We are now at our Villa and enjoying the lovely sunny and dry weather

The last time we were at the locks in Devizes they were renavating them.

It was beautiful in Glasgow yesterday (not so good today) and it has also been Doors Open Days Festival. I've been on walks including Glasgow in Wartime, Old Shopfronts, and my local area. Yesterday we had a tour of Glasgow Necropolis, burial place of some of Glasgow's great benefactors and also many ordinary Glaswegians. It's high up. Here's a view as the sun was going down and also John Knox's Statue. He's not actually buried here - the statue was there before it was a cemetary. Well worth a visit.
