I am with Aviva. Earlier this year about a week into my car insurance while I was parked in the last parking space in our High Street a van with a tow bar reversed into my car in an attempt to park on double yellow lines. I was sitting in the car at the time. This was my first every "accident". Aviva were brilliant. They made everything very simple and easy to deal with. I didn't have "free" car hire with my insurance but they gave me it anyway as they were claiming it back from the van's owners.

My car was fixed at a place of my choice. Couldn't fault them at all.

You really do have to review and, sometimes, challenge these things, don't you! At the very least, DL should be explaining why the annual increases, when there's no apparent reason.

Thank you for posting. I will look at M&S and I hope you get a positive response from Admiral.

I got a home insurance quote from them though and it wasn’t that competitive, so they’re not totally perfect 😂
Ahh, none of them are perfect, are they!

I'm definitely going to look at it as a possibility, though - the Aviva Plus. As you say, these things change and maybe this is the way forward.

I especially like the sound of 'way cheaper'!

Haha! I think my renewal was taking the Michael to be fair, so it’s all relative!

That's it in a nutshell! Competitively priced and look after you well, if/when you need it.

It's reassuring to hear of so many positive experiences with a range of insurers. Plus, you're not the first to mention Admiral. I think it'll be a good idea to get a quote from them. I'm getting a good list of possibilities to consider and I feel more prepared.

Thanks so much!

I was wondering about how well an insurer might look after such a new customer (I've been with DL so long), so this is very good to read. Then again, loyalty isn't rewarded anymore so maybe time isn't an issue.

Sorry, about the van driver <eye roll emoji>, but thank you for posting. 'Simple and easy' is exactly what you want with an insurance claim like that. They looked after you well.

They absolutely did look after me well. That said loyalty is definately not a thing rewarded by insurance companies. In fact they exploit it.

Yes. Really, I should have changed this sooner, but things happen and sometimes it takes longer! That said, we've changed other snowballing charges (like Sky, electricity etc.) - just hadn't got around to car insurance...'til now.

Thanks again.

I do the same as you and always have done.
