Wilmington, Raleigh or Charlotte NC

We are 2 months away from our road trip.
Our intention is to do 3 nights in Savannah area - mainly sightseeing the beaches and town, then we have 2 nights for a stopover en route to Washington. (Before this we will have done Blue Ridge parkway, Smokey Mountains, Nashville and Atlanta)

Wilmington - on the coast is an option.
Raleigh or Charlotte inland is other 2 options I am looking at.

We are in our fifties, my wife likes sightseeing (not into museums which there seem plenty of) - we like beaches and the coast and nice towns to walk around.

Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

Don’t know if I am too late in responding but we stayed a few nights in Wilmington a couple of years ago. I really liked it there - it’s not big but it had a nice atmosphere. I wasn’t keen but was talked into visiting the battleship based there and ended staying on it for ages. It is really worth visiting if you do decide to go there.

We stayed at Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks last year it is lovely there with Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. We were supposed to be there 4 nights but ended up only 2 nights because of Hurricane Florence and manditory evacuation. Hoping to get back there as we had loads of things planned to do.

We did Wilmington and the Outer Banks a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I think a stopover would be better in that area.

Thanks - unfortunately we have had to cancel this years trip - just last week. But hope to go there at some point in the future.
