Any medics - what is TDH?
My 93 year old mother had a fall 10 days ago and is in hospital. On Sunday I was told that the doctors had said she was medically fit for discharge.
However, today I have been told that she has been put on antibiotics for TDH (discovered after she started with diarrhoea) and will be in hospital for few more days. I was told it is highly transmissible and was asked to wear apron and gloves. The Sister said it can occur due to antibiotics? Can anyone tell me what is TDH and how has my mother just got this please? Edited at 08:43 PM. |

No idea I'm afraid. I'd ask them what it stands for. They really should use abbreviations on their patients or relatives.

Dr Google says It's a protein toxin formed when bacteria enter the gut. Ie food poisoning. |

Ah, it could be when antibiotics mess up your digestive flora , I had something similar and took Biokult which is a probiotic. Don’t know why it would be transmissible though so I could be wrong !
Maybe ask if she can have something like that ? Edited at 06:45 AM. |
