Our first European rollercoaster adventure -Day 6 Cologne
Day 6- 17th November
We were on the 7:30 train this morning so had a quick continental breakfast before heading to the station. Love the German pretzel bread! It was slightly delayed but we had 25 mins for our connection so still had plenty of time in Offenburg. Spotted a C&A been a while since I’ve seen that shop! The train was pretty quiet in first class and we settled in for the 2 and half hour journey to Cologne. We got a free chocolate which was really nice. We dropped our bags at the hotel then walked to the Cathedral. This is stunning both outside and in. We went down to the river, Neil fancied the olympics museum so we did that which was quite interesting. I wanted to try Currywurst so had lunch at a local stand that got good reviews. It was pretty tasty! We went back to our hotel to check in. We were staying at Urban loft which was close to the station and I liked that it had smart tvs so we could watch some Netflix and YouTube! There was loads of restaurants near our hotel so we went to a German one called klaaf. It was still a bit weird having to show your vaccine certificate before you could eat but was a lovely restaurant. We both had tartes, mine was chicken, leek and cranberry and Neil’s was the veggie one which was honey and goats cheese. We split the apple pancake for dessert which was massive! Tomorrow we were off to Phantasialand! |

I'm enjoying your report. We were supposed to be in Cologne and Phantasialand last week, but our flight was Monday and we only got out of our quarantine hotel on Sunday . Now planning for next year and, like you, we will do some of the other parks as well.

Oh no that’s so disappointing! We were very lucky that we managed to get away, with cases rising in Germany I wasn’t convinced we were going to make the trip until we were pretty much on the plane!
Hope you have a fab trip next year. There loads of parks I’d love to do in Europe, particularly Toverland and the walibi parks. |
