TUI Fly Drive Car Insurance

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can clarify something for us please. We're looking at a fly drive with TUI, we only ever get the basic insurance package and upgrade separately to fully comp/inclusive, but this line on the insurance info has confused me:

Collision Damage Waiver - mandatory ($26 per day, pay on arrival)

Can they make us pay that? What starts out as a good deal suddenly becomes much more expensive!

Thanks

yes, they can, and they will,
that's what will be charged by the rental company (or they won't release the car to you) and that's even before you consider Extended Protection ($1.000.000 third party liability) that you'll also need to take (add some $10 a day)
(that's if you don't take the extortionate upgrade offered by TUI to get their whatever super uber ultra insurance ... that's basically a full priced car hire in itself)

that's the reason why many here don't bother collecting the "free car", and arrange a separate rental, that's fully inclusive, often for less than the price you'd need to add for the "free car"

have a look at the reputable companies in the yellow box at the top of this subforum, (I advise you got a quote from Andy at DFCH)

Thank you for your help, I’ll look into it further to see if we can get it cheaper booking flights & car separate.
