anyone installed " MS Office " on a stream type PC

We got our daughter a HP stream laptop last christmas, its great, its lightweight and works well ( i have a small screen one here, hers is 14" and mine is 11" )

anyways, it comes with Office 365, she hates this office and is struggling with it

Not sure what office the PC's use in school are ( Office 16 or 19 ? ? ) but she prefers to do her assignments on the school PC's, as they have " real office "

looking online it looks like the install takes 3 gig, her space on the 32 gig HD is just over 3 gig ( though mine is just over 12 gig as i did a fresh install of 10 and got rid of the bloat )

so anyone had any joy with installing a " real " ms office on the HD

Yes. I’ve put it on a few at work. It works ok but obviously you have to be aware that you don’t have much storage space.

is she using the office 365 via the web or has she downloaded the installed version ? the installed version will be the same as 2016 with a few tweaks 2010 is going out of support so no one should be using that now.

the web based version, ( i think, but will check , though something has eaten alot of space, as might has over 12 gig left, surely bloatware wont be 9 gig ? ? ? ) well its all cloud based as you get a slight lag

I guess the best bet is to get her to check which version she is using in school, though you would expect it to be the latest version

To be honest for basic office and Internet I was very impressed with the Streams we had. But I’m surprised she has only got 3gb left. That sounds wrong.

I love my chromebook and my HP stream ( use the HP as the chromebook will not work with a football coaches site i need )

i am guessing it has a fair bit of bloatware on, maybe it does have Office 365 installed on it ? ?

just checked, about 1.5 gig of sports video's on the HD ( for her school work )

i clicked on office, has a link to :

Install office

and

Buy Office 365

click on on the install and it says " Go premium with Office 365 to install the latest apps on your PC or Mac " with a " I have a Office prodcut Key " link

So does that mean she hasnt got the full office installed ? ? ? is it a lite version ? ? ? if we paid the £119 for Office Home and student 2019 it would be the full version ? ? ?

thanks

If she has a school email address she should be able to download full Office for free.

Try logging in with her school email here aka.ms/office-install
