Celebrating Retirement Tour October 2019 - Day 7 Wed 9 Oct - Palm Springs
Very sad to be leaving San Diego today. Can highly recommend the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn and would definitely stay here again. Another very busy breakfast as another cruise ship, the Disney Wonder, was in port but the staff again coped remarkably well. This hotel seems really popular for cruise ship stopovers, especially as they offer free minibus transfer to the cruise terminal or airport.
We had a last wander down to the seafront before checking out and catching the minibus to the airport 5 minutes away to pick up the hire car. There was only one mid sized SUV available but it seemed fine so after a bit of time fiddling with all the knobs and levers we set off using Google maps for navigation which worked brilliantly. I also have navmii installed on my phone just in case phone reception is poor. We had decided not to get sat nav included with the car rental as the extra cost was ridiculous. We may have a look in Walmart to see if it is worth buying one. Quite a boring drive to Palm Springs as we had decided just to head straight for the hotel as it was Brian's first day driving. Arrived at The Coyote Inn at 4pm to a very warm welcome from the owners Barb and Chris. Its a very small place with only 7 suites and really cute so first impressions were good 👍😁 Also saw lots of humming birds around the feeders at the front of the property which was really cool. Had a wander into the centre of Palm Springs as we were hungry now and decided to eat at Lulu's. I had grilled chicken burger and Brian had quesadillas and bill came to $55 including drinks and tip. There was a great atmosphere all along the main road and first impressions were that we really liked Palm Springs. Index of previous days - https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1150994 |

We loved Palm Springs when we went, although this was many years ago. Nice to know it still has a great atmosphere.
