Virgin Miles Questions

I'm currently saving up Virgin Miles so that I can upgrade tickets I book for 2021 in PE to UC. I've been using all the usual methods to get as many as possible (credit card, using the affilliate links, etc.) and am doing quite well, even if I do say so myself. I'm also looking at boosting the miles for our flights in February. So, a couple of questions if anyone can help.

First, is boosting miles worthwhile? It'll cost me around £175 to get 17.5K in miles and I can do that on all three seats (my son (17) doesn't have a Flying Club account yet but will have if this is a reasonable way to get miles).

Second, once I have these miles they are, obviously, in separate accounts. Is it worthwhile transferring these into my account as I'll be the one booking the seats for 2021? I read somewhere on the VA website that it'll cost around around £200 to transfer to miles from our 2020 holiday so that's a total cost of £375 for around 26K miles. (And I'll need to do that twice.) The standard cost to purchase 26K miles would be £405 so a 10% saving in real terms. Is there a better way to use these miles?

Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

Miles boost is only worth doing when they have bonus miles offer on, Shame as the bonus offer finished last week, with regards to transferring your miles you don’t need to pay, when you have enough miles in each account ring virgin and they will transfer over the miles to one account when you are ready to book. I would keep an eye out for the next bonus offer and then purchase some miles. You have six months after your flight to boost your miles.

That's great information, thanks. I didn't realise they did bonuses to the boosts - and free transfers is excellent. Looks like my wife and I may just be flying UC for my 50th at a cheaper price

Reward flight costs can be found here: virginatlantic/gb/en...d-flights.html

Basically, if you want a return flight to Orlando after 7 Sep 20 in PE, it will cost 45,000 miles plus taxes per person. You can book reward flights, I believe, online or over the phone with VA direct.

If you book an Economy seat you can upgrade with miles to PE to 22400 miles plus taxes per person.

You just need to make sure the flight you want has reward seats available (which you can search for on the VA website) and that, if you're upgrading using miles, that the seat you have paid for can be upgraded in that way.

That's my understanding anyway. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Have a look on the virgin website and instead of clicking money opt for the miles option. If the miles reward is available it will show what dates you can book using your miles. Not many showing available for sept.
