But I wouldn't come on here saying not to go to A& E cos it's not an emergency because what constitutes an emergency ?
Personally, I don’t think it’s an emergency YET. Obviously it has the potential to become an emergency should she develop DKA but with monitoring and sensible management hopefully that won’t be the case. OP sounds well educated in her daughters diabetes and is able to keep an eye on her. Potentially, without anymore information, it would come down to what A&E could offer in this situation? Plus, could she then get that treatment elsewhere instead? A&E is not always the answer and not the appropriate place for OP’s daughter right now- so yes I think it would be a misuse of services.

Do you have an urgent care centre nearby even if it’s not your local hospital? We have our major trauma centre and our local hospital which has an urgent care centre as well as A&E. It’s the middle ground between walk in GP and A&E- but if there’s one not too far away I’d definitely suggest that.

Keep an eye on her for any signs of sepsis and encourage her to drink plenty. Yes she’s on antibiotics but if they’re not the right ones then she could still be at risk. Wounds and diabetics aren’t exactly simple so I’m annoyed they don’t seem very concerned from what you’ve said. Hope she’s okay xx

P.S. sorry if I’m telling you to suck eggs
This is a picture of the dressings the hospital gave us

She can shower as usual and dab dry, bathe with cooled boiled, salty water once a day. We was told to only wear the dressing when she goes out (to prevent clothes fibres getting into it) apart from that keep it out in the open and dry.

We have no specialist centres here, just the doctors surgery, out of hours surgery & hospital.
It’s rather deep and open, angry red round the edges & yellow, green pus in the centre.

I think it is very dangerous for forum users who know nothing of a person's medical history and have not seen or examined the person to make statements as to whether something is an emergency or not.

Situations change very fast and the OP needs to take advice from the medical professionals who provide care and not from a disney forum. I hope the people giving advice are not medical professionals as they should know better than doing so.

OP, please take your daughter and get professional advice.

I apologise, I was talking both generally and trying to integrate that into the situation. I would like to say that I did suggest medical assistance in a previous comment though and was advising she should see a professional. I will avoid it in the future.

Edit: apparently I can’t spell anymore

No need to apologise, I was just making a generic comment on the dangers of any of us advising on medical matters.

I know people comment because they want to help and they care but it is fraught with problems both medical and legal.
