In my humble opinion you can't beat Alamo if only for the STC facility.

Good luck.

Before I'm pulled up on it as I surely will be let me rephrase

"You can't beat Alamo if only for the STC facility and the ability to pick your own car"

OP. This is the Dollar policy ref Debit Cards. It is fine as long as you have 2 forms of ID - Passport and Licence so no problems. Plus a return ticket again no problem.

Please read it through though.

Lovely lady for MMH emailed me back. Auto Europe want £200+ to switch! Their ‘live’ prices are pennies difference. And they state free cancellation up to 48 hours before on their website. 100% lesson learnt no flydrives for me next year DIY all the way. I’m gutted but my fault I know. Should have stipulated a preferred company on booking and this probably wouldn’t of happened. I’ve left them a snotty review on their Facebook page!

No point beating yourself up about it. What's done is done and Tom and I and a few others can only post our views and information because we've probably been there before and learnt some valuable lessons.

I remember the script from the Dollar guy at SFB years ago.

"I see you've only booked an intermediate car sir and with that luggage it won't be big enough. I suggest that you upgrade to a full size which is normally $30 a day to upgrade but today only I can upgrade you for only $20 a day"

Nearly fell for it but now I know that I could upgrade for the whole holiday for about £30.

Just put it behind you and have a great time.

Mick

Mick. I used to have fun at the Dollar desk.

Dollar Guy - I can upgrade you to Luxury for $18 a day
Me $4
Dollar. Ok $15
Me $3

But Sir you are going the wrong way to meet me for a good deal.
Me. Better hurry up Son before I reach zero.

Always drove off in the Full Size I had booked!

Strong words but I detested the Dollar staff at SFB with a vengeance, closely followed by their staff at MCO.

My experience with Dollar this March can only bear out what Tom calls "harsh words" my words to describe Dollar Staff at MCO would get me banned from here
