Ricky from Orlando Attractions magazine and the Inside the Magic podcast has posted a couple of great high def video of the on-stage announcements, including many of the promo photos.

As was said when news of this was first leaked - it will be a very girly area - not much at all for the boys though sound like the Dumbo area is going to be a great spectacle. Our DS loves heading to Toontown and spends lots of time in Mickey's house, garden and garage. I know by the time the renovations are finished he will probably have outgrown it anyway but I do hope they retain a small area dedicated to the Mouse!

Delighted with the Star Tours news though - it definitely is feeling its age and will be looking foward to seeing its new incarnation.

WHile it does sound fantastic I will miss Mickey and Minnie's houses - other than those there is very little of Mickey in the Magic Kingdom.

Plus it all seems very much geared towards the girls - with a boy and girl the same age I'm always very aware of trying to find stuff that will appeal to each of them - I've always thought WDW, especially MK, is crying out for more boy or older children themed areas - a POTC or Toy Story character meal would be brilliant.

Looks to me that Disney have identified the Niche market of little girls up to pre teens & realised how much merch they can shift on that market alone. Can't really see a family with boys only, visiting too many of these attractions! IMO they are still missing the point of the "tweens" & their need for some adrenelin but I'm sure that they have done the Math.

To be fair, the boys are already pretty well catered for in Magic Kingdom - most of Tomorrowland, Frontierland and Adventureland is generally male-oriented.

This sounds great for the little ones, especially the girls! Cant see my 10 year old son wanting to meet all the princesses in Fantasyland but my daughter will love it. Shame it wont be ready for the 2011 40th celebrations.
Star Tours sounds good fun. Guess we'll have to wait and see on the rest

As i am due to go very shortly, i was a little concerned that the expansion would start very soon (I am taking my daughter to magic kingdom on her 4th birthday and want to take her to minnie house). I have been able to find the following at

news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090912/bs_nm/us_disney_park

(sorry can't post links)

"Disney theme parks Chairman Jay Rasulo said the Fantasyland project, which breaks ground next year"

"Disney Imagineers, who design rides and attractions, said the Toon Town attraction would be dismantled and its popular Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse houses relocated to another section of Walt Disney World"

Just hoping all this is true

I think the expansion sounds absolutely fantastic! Definitely a good reason for me to rebook for 2012.
