Is it worth it?

Just read that 45% of Americans going to Disney with children under 18 are getting into debt to do so.
This is up from 30% just a year ago.
Rising prices are said to be one reason.
What’s the betting some of these people are paying for all the add ons, such as parties, special tours, cabanas etc. All on debt.
I’d never personally get into debt to go on any holiday, never have done even when I was on very modest wages.
Is it worth it- what are your thoughts?
I was shocked at the statistic.

I worked 7 nights a week to afford to take my family and we went several times and have never gone into debt to pay for it. If you cannot afford it don’t go. Unfortunately today’s society wants it all now and pay later.

Nope. I would not get into debt for a holiday.

Same as anything if I can't afford it it save until I can unless absolutely necessary.

I would never get into debt for a holiday. It's not essential to have a Disney holiday, and if it would cause me financial hardship then I would look at a cheaper type of holiday or no holiday at all.

It seems to be the same with everything nowadays though - I want it so I shall have it and damn the consequences. Cars, holidays, designer fashion etc.

I also think that social media has a lot to answer for as well. It all seems to be done so that photos/posts etc are put on social media of choice with a "Look at me, look what i have". And the influencers who others aspire to be. I'm guessing the vast majority of the influencers are using smoke and mirrors, however people don't see that and want to be just like them.

I wouldn’t get into debt for a holiday. If I don’t have the money for something then I can’t have it, it’s that simple.

We only book Florida when we have enough in savings to pay for it.

I love my holidays, but a roof over our heads, heating and eating are the priorities.

I budget for it. I don’t get into debt for it. I make sacrifices such as driving a 2011 Kuga rather than a 2023/24 one. I do need to start to prioritise the house though. I need a new roof and this holiday at summer could have almost paid for one so I do need to stop going to Orlando and focus on spending more time in rainy West Yorkshire. But it will be okay because I’ll have a new roof and so I won’t get wet. 😅

I'd hate to come home from a holiday and have to start paying for it. We didn't go abroad at all when our kids were young, as we couldn't afford it, and we definitely wouldn't have gone into debt for it.

Yes each to their own.

We've done it, pay it back later.

I can well believe the statistics as I have witnessed spending by some Americans (well I assume they are by the law of averages) that I would consider to be totally over the top.

Masses of food wasted due to over ordering, hitting the shops like goods are going out of fashion and all the other issues such as Genie+, paid for lines, snacks that are ridiculous in numbers and volume etc.

Hey ho their issue not mine.
