Police have enough to deal with in this country and are constantly getting it from the public without now getting backlash on how they deal with cattle. Human safety comes first and I think they dealt with it how they needed to to avoid serious public injury.

We don’t know the facts. Cows can and will kill, in an urban environment if they run into something. Could cause a major RTA with multiple deaths. Then the police would be severely criticised for not killing said cow earlier.
I’m sure ramming a police truck into it was last resort so to speak.
It actually survived when usually it would be shot, so whilst it may look bad, it actually meant it survived.

Absolutely no excuse.
They seem to have tried no other options from I’ve read.
Disgusting.

It appears the police officer has been “removed from duties”. It was a ten month old calf!
I think their tactics were a bit brutal from what the video shows.
But of course I’m sure once it dies down, the officer will return and nothing will be done. 🤷🏻

From the reports I read a member of public led it to a field after the horrific event thankfully, so it must have been calm enough to lead.
They could have called a vet, a farmer or the RSPCA to deal with it but did not do so apparently.
No one is vilifying the police as has been suggested, but additionally, the police aren’t always perfect and justified in their actions either!

I don't support hanging people out to dry over social media and knee jerk reactions.

Lets bear in mind the Police shoot numerous loose cattle every year as they are a risk. And rightly so.
Exactly. None of us knows the facts nor will we ever. I can only imagine the driver did what they thought was right.
Trial by social media. SM and the traditional media publish whatever suits their narrative which these days whatever shocks the most. They just want to drag anyone and everyone through the mill. Sadly there is no journalism anymore.

You have to remember this is no ordinary police force, not as bad as it's predecessors though.

I don't think all Police are being called out over this incident just this one officer. As for social media the Dibb is as far as I go, I just cba with it. I don't read the press as I have my own mind to make my own judgements so I don't want to pay any attention to their manipulating claptrap. I stand by my feelings that no animal should suffer.

I really don’t understand why a tranquilliser gun couldn't have been used in this situation.

Couldn’t agree more. Quote from the PCC

Surrey's Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend said: “There is much speculation on social media, which does not necessarily reflect the situation which was ongoing for a number of hours or the difficult decisions facing officers on the ground at the time.
"I would ask everyone to allow time for this to be properly reviewed rather than speculating and causing unnecessary additional stress and concern within the community."

I’m sure this won’t stop the social media experts who see a short piece of a video and suddenly know everything that happened
