I loved the books as they meant so much to me in the day and the 90’s TV series really hit home with my friends both straight and gay.

Now on 7th June on Netflix is the next instalment and I can’t wait. Although not written by Armistead it is based on his stories and has many of the original characters (admit I have seen some of the 10 one hour long episodes)

I am so every (greedily) excited and as Armistead is penning a new book about Mona in UK (and he and his husband have moved to London) I personally can’t wait for more !

I adored the books - didn’t like the tv adaptation too much... but will look out for this thanks. 😀

Ooh thanks for the heads up! I loved the books, and the TV series (did they only do the first book, I can’t remember?). When is the new one set? Is it present day?

They did the first 3 series - the first 2 can be found on Channel 4 catchup not sure about the 3rd

Yes the one that starts this Friday is set in modern day but has flashback episode to early days of how Mrs Madrigal found that amazing house etc

PS there a excerpts on Netflix but a great interview in today’s The Times from Armistead Maupin worth a read if you are interested

I binge watched it over the weekend and wasn't disappointed - great casting . Highlights being the intergenerational dinner party from guys of my age to millennials and the episode that solely concentrated on the Compton’s Cafe incident which I had never heard of before (much to my shame) - all in all I laughed, cried and to see to many familiar characters made me feel warm and fuzzy 🥰
